My Mother Pieced Quilts

1. The speaker of the poem is the person was given the quilt. How I know is that they speak as if they were given the quilt and are reflecting on it now.
2. The person is speaking to the person who made the quilt, the mother. The quote "oh mother you plunged me sobbling and laughing" gives it away. Also they keep repeating "you" it was like you made the quilt, and you sowed it together. Also tittle gives it away.
3. The family seems strong, even if something bad happens they are still strong and hold together. The poem gives me a feel that the family is very loving and close.
4. Four fabrics are "black silk you wore to grandmother’s funeral" "my father’s santa fe shirt" "flannel nightgowns" and cotton.
5. They are the memoirs they remember while looking at the quilt.
6. The theme of the poem is love of the family. How it was just a blanket to keep out cold but it is something much more. How hard the mother worked to make it, out of love for the child. All the memoirs built in the blanket.
