Frozen Minneapolis homicide victim ID'd: pregnant teen

http://www.startribune.com/local/36846594.html?elr=KArks:DCiUHc3E7_V_nDaycUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aULPQL7PQLanchO7DiU

According to the Star Tribune two weeks ago police found a frozen to death in the snow, then tossed at an unattached garage. Or that’s what they thought. The medical examiner said she suffered from multiple blunt force injuries. In other words, this means the cause of death was beaten to death and was just left in the snow. But it gets worse. Her name is Annshalike Shanta Hamilton and she was 15, and pregnant. Approximately six to seven months, pretty far along. The fetus of coarse died along with Annshalike. Because she with noticeably pregnant police conceder this a double homicide. The reason why this information was not released earlier was because they needed to thaw the body out before confirming. Obviously this is horrible for multiple reasons. She was young, pregnant, and they was they killed her was horrifying. No one deserves this and I really hope they catch the murderers. When things like this happen it tends to bring the community together in witch to peruse the killer(s) witch is an up, but still.

No one notices

Ten trillion, that’s a thousand billions, in dollars, that the U.S. is in debt. …and counting. The Time Square’s national count down didn’t even have enough room for the number. But as big as this number is, no one seems to notice, maybe denial. According to the article on Huffington post, http://www.huffingtonpost.com/scott-bittle-and-jean-johnson/national-debt-passes-10-t_b_132732.html says that people don’t really care about our national debt. I think Americans attitude is that someone will come and save us. Or that everyone keeps saying that America is the greatest country in the world, and it’ll be solved. But that’s just my theory. I’m sure they had a good reason, right? Well there’s the Iraq war, witch were still not out of, so KA CHING! It its estimated that the wars cost was about $400 billion - but that was before the Wall Street bailout. The war has taken a big chunk of money, but it’s not the only thing. to fix the bailout we are now borrowing money!? In this money crisis, people don’t have jobs so they can’t really pay for there share. Many politicians DON’T talk about tax increases or spending cuts. Instead they just barrow, just the place we need to be. People need to pay back loans; there are the baby boomers, fix Social Security, and Medicare. There is no way of denying it people, we need real a fix. If you haven’t cried by the end of reading this, do something. Start saving or move. We have been irresponsible long enough. I’m not even an adult yet and the place I’m living in sounds bad and getting worse. I know its a lot of work but no way around it. DO SOMETHING!

rehab

I saw an old Seventeen magazine lying around and found an article on what rehab is really like. It seems these days that rehab is cool, all the celebrities go. But what is it really like. It’s a lot of work. In the article, they follow one girl named Emily. The habit started out innocent. At 13, to be cool, she did drink but only on weekends. Of course, things soon got bigger, going to school high, and doing cock ecstasy and more. But this story is not about her, it’s about how hard rehab is and getting your on track after drugs. At Comprehensive Alcoholism Rehabilitation Program ran a tight schedule. Wake up at seven thirty for breakfast, ten to three was school (even though its summer). Three to nine was group therapy and lastly nine to ten AA meeting and bed. She was very mad at everyone when she and got sick and lots of stuff but could through it. It only shows that when you have a bad habit its harder to come out of it and the sooner you stop the better.

cults

I read a section of this book called “cults” by Karen Zeinert. It tells you about the many cults that have been and still are going on today. Many people are afraid of cults, think they are evil. Some think they are just have different views from other people and are misunderstood and bring diverse people to America. Either way, it is a very sensitive issue and gets people talking. The stereotypical cult is involves brainwashing, some sort of sexual abuse, and weird belief often resulting in death. Such as groups called Waco, the Charles Manson followers and Jeffery Lundgren groups to name a few. But there are “good” cults. By definition (according to the book) is a certain group that has a belief(s) and has followers and (a) leader(s). So, basically, a lot of things are cults. Like big religious groups or certain government. Most think it’s a group that they think is wrong, and small amount of individuals. There are many definitions of a cult, and it’s pretty much up to you. I think people feel the need to belong, so will join. And some like to have power, and drives them to start cults. It’s to spread out what they belief in witch is both good and bad.

The Bible

This story was from the chicken soup for the teenage soul. volume 1. multiple writers. Stories found by Jack Canfield, Mark Hasen and Kim Kirberger.

This story is short, simple, story that gets to the point; basically a modern folktale. The son is on his graduation day, hoping to get a big fancy present for his special, well earned day. Family tradition is that the son of whomever is graduating gets a car. So graduation day comes, but the father hands him a bible, no car! The son makes a fit, threw the bible on the floor, left, and father and son never saw each other again. Years later the father dies. In the will, he got the same bible. To his surprise, he found a check inside the bible. The amount was the exact total of money of the car he wanted.
This teaches us that things are not what they seem. The sons fury was so strong he didn’t even thing to look inside it. Its very sad. This also teaches us that people should be gracious for what we have. For example, the son lost his father without saying goodbye or anything. If he was glad with the gift he had, the father would have been in the son’s life, and would have gotten the car.

Charles Schultz

Charle a.k.a spary was a born loser. He failed in every aspect of his life. In academics, he failed almost every class from math, science, English, and everything in between. Smarts was not his thing. He made a golf team, but became a burden to the team. So, sports were not his thing, also. Sparky had no friends, his peers wouldn’t even say hello. So, being outgoing was not his thing. It seemed like Sparky was a loser in life, and looked like it would stay that way. Luckily, Sparky had one passion, in his cartoons he made. When he graduated, he looked for multiple jobs in cartooning. He sent his work to yearbooks, Walt Disney studios, and other companies. Sparky put his heart and souls into the work he sent, only to get rejected by all of them. Regardless, he started his own cartoon strip. The cartoon was a about a little boy who was a loser, a cartoon strip about his childhood. It was called Charlie Brown.
As we all know, Charlie has become one of the most successful cartoons ever. I thought I was interesting that Charlie brown was a real person. Charlie brown is well known in Minnesota, witch I like to read about because its part of our history. Who knew that Sparky would be so successful? This proves that losers can win. No matter how much you’re rejected you can make it. This is inspiring story. Everyone is important in there own way :)

Alton attorney accidentally sues himself

This has been one of the funniest headlines ever. It has been a favorite for Jay Leno’s comedy show and dozens of website mocking it. I don’t much have read the real thing though, so here is what happened: Emert Wyss owned this company and also lawyer. Very busy man. So on his attorney job, his client came to him to sue a company, his own company. The accidental part is that he agreed to take case without really looking at company name. There was some sort of misfiling issues. Anyways, he found it humorous and case was dismissed. The person suing did not win. Happy ending. So the thesis is really, well all f us can make mistakes, even the people in society who we consider to be smart. Also this world is so complex; it’s hard to keep track of everything. Like because he was so busy with both a business and atoning that he did not even realize he was suing himself. This funny misunderstanding is prove of this thesis. I think that attorney really needs to take a break. http://madisonrecord.com/news/contentview.asp?c=148217

know your facts!

I read this book called "Genral Irnorance" by John Lyoyd and John Mitchinson. I read things like: a chicken can live without its head for two years. Or did you know Penton Randolph was the first president of U.S.? after death your finger nails and hair grows three days later. And many more things that people do not know. It shows that what we know is not alot. Maybe its because people don't bother to get the whole story, or they misunderstand. Ether way, they are ignorant. Not getting your facts straight is costly. Even the simplest things, you should know what your talking about. In history we see many of people make ignorant mistakes, leading others to misguidance. Prosperity and good things come from knowledge... if we truly know it.

South African Cure for AIDS: Having Sex with a Virgin?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

http://www.truthorfiction.com/rumors/a/aids-virgins.htm

Mainly spread by local shamans, its effect is deadly. As you may know, the number of people with AIDS in South Africa its rapidly increasing. And due this false allegation, this isn’t helping the stats go down. Virgins are usually young, so the infected men seek out youngest girls possible. In one heart breaking incident, two 9-month old girls were raped by six men and now fighting for there life’s. Babies aren’t meant to have intercourse, so that’s why it is not only wrong to rape girls, but bad for health. And, well, they have AIDS, so now the babies have AIDS! This "urban legends that kills" is prove of how desperate situations cause people to do desperate things. Also, how the truth is vital component to a society’s well being. One in five South Africans believe that this cure will work! People need to hear what is true, or face the consequences. Especially if children are involved, it needs to stop NOW! South Africans believe in this cure most of all but sadly many our cultures belief this too. For instants, Cambodia, India and Jamaica all belief this too! In Cambodia, this is amplifies the growing number of child hookers. In Jamaica, it has been said that in the Ministry of Health said having sex with a virgin can cleanse you of your AIDS. Having more sex only raises AIDS. Its only cure is to get help, and use condoms …or not have sex at all! Having unprotected sex is this began. A majority of South Africans are uneducated, and the answer to healing AIDS is educating people about this issue. They are smart people but have the unfortunate of not able to get the information they need. Ignorance, fear and lies, is not gonna help this horrifying disease.

In just one month 7,500 people lost their jobs in Minnesota

As you probably know, we are in a recession. A collapsed economy and we are running out of jobs. We are in scary times, especially if you’re the one without a job. You’d think that your job is secure but it could be gone, just like that. Lucky, because of the recession, SOME jobs are prospering. Few such as, therapy, probably because people are sad about losing there job and need help, and Workforce Center’s. Most of which are filled and crowed. One of these people, Brian Donovan, says his been working 8 and a half years. Never thinking he’d lose his job. He’s a reliable, hard worker who says he’s never been laid off before. Frightened, he came to a work center, called the “Employment Ready U.” it helps, but he is still searching. I guess you can really never know when you might lose your job. So, the article suggests that always keep a resume on hand, just in case. http://www.kare11.com/news/news_article.aspx?storyid=530087&catid=14

Proposition 8. NO?!

You’ve probably heard of Arizona, California, and Florida’s proposition to oppose gay marriage. WHEN IT HAS ALREADY BEEN DECIDED that gay’s could get married. There were 18000 people who were married and now the state has technically divorced them?! I don’t see why is affects anyone’s live if gays are married. If fact, its worse, losing money in the states. Many wedding planners had weddings booked and now people are canceling them all because of proposition 8. Another thing, the amendment was there to protect Americans rights. But what this does is exclude people’s rights. It has never about taking them away. This country was build on freedom, so why are denying gay rights. It should be your civil liberty to get married, to love. Remember when blacks did not have any rights, and now America is very ashamed of it, as would should be. This will be the very same deal, we our not learning from our mistakes. All they want to do is get married! I swear, one day our children will look on this day in history and say, what the hell is wrong with them? …And be ashamed of this country.
I read an article about this on http://www.therandirhodesshow.com/

if the world could vote

Hi I know this is a little late on the topic, but this is about the election. On the website http://www.economist.com/vote2008/ it has stuff on how the world feels about the election. On website there is a map of the world, to show witch country is Obama/McCain. It lights up with blue and those 4 (out of 195) countries who are in favor of McCain, barely want him. Also it states “All democratic systems have their quirks, and America's is no exception” in one of its articles. The electoral college has been tried to reform over 700 times. It causes candidates to focus on swing states instead whole country. And this causes worry for the world, because they were worried that McCain would win. Why would they care??? The president of the united states is the most powerful person in the world. But if the world could vote, they would obviously choose Obama, and hopefully they got there wish. The whole world watched as we voted, I wish they could only have a say too.

be safe

One 20-year old woman went to valleyscare with her friends. Ready and excited for fun, not expecting what would come next. She separated from her friends only for a short while she planed, to go get food. She thought it’s a safe place and crowded so she’d be out of harm's way. But then, some men from behind her asked her for her number, and when she refused to give out her number, that’s when they attacked. Dragged behind a haunted house, where her screams were drown out by people screaming from inside so she could not be heard. They beat her and she thought she was going to die. But now she tells the tall to warn others. This story proves, through you many think your secure, think again.

LTTE terror

Since 1983 LTTE is fighting for a mono separate homeland for Tamils. It was India that trained and infiltrated an armed group called the LTTE some 30 years ago. This is the problem that is still going on.
I understand they are fighting for there rights. I understand that they are passionate about getting there freedom. Who could blame them for wanting freedom? I’m sure they would like to carry this out peacefully, but sometimes you can’t be heard that way. And the LTTE sure did get our attention. It makes a greater impact on people then having marches or something. But when you don’t have freedom in the first place that’s hard to do. It must have been frustrating, at first because this group did start out peacefully, but no one listened. Any who that still not an excuse! So now they’re murdering innocent civilians and some happen to be one of there own, states asiantribune. Many bombings and fires taking place, they steal medicines and food all because of LTTE. Although the Government has offered to provide a safe passage to the Tamils in the LTTE held areas but they are prevented from making use of this by the LTTE. Some say these people are freedom fighters, other say these people are terrorist. the truth is they are both terrorist and freedom fighters. The cause is fine but they way LTTE chooses to approach this issue is shameful. Most of the time you aren’t heard by a peaceful way of protest; but its possible. Ghani did it, so did Martin Luther King. I only wish it could be both ways, making a strong statement while not hurting anyone. If you have to hurt people for your cause, it only hurts the cause itself.
Peace to everyone!

box hero

My hero I am to study is the artist M.I.A. I have found these artifacts to help me understand this hero:
My first artifact I have found is a article on M.I.A. Telling about her background and how it affects her today. According to the article, when she was a child, it wasn’t a piece of cake. Her father was a LTTE activist, and M.I.A. is now too, and many want to capture him, and so he barely was with the rest of the family. Her mother worked multiple low wage jobs to support the family. They were so poor butter was a treat. Moving place to place to avoid the civil war going in they’re home country, Sri Lanka. Another article and video(scroll down), this one is more about her present. She makes music, and does well because it is in the number one place. She made a song called “boyz” and is about many boys will start wars. it is a has a different beat then most heard.

This is a picture, she is sitting down with some locals.

In this picture M.I.A. is shooting a music video. Is wearing weird clothing then most people would.

This what M.I.A. wrote. It is titled "20$"

Talking bout ya'll 's such a bore. Id rather talk bout moi.

Do you know that cost of a.ksUp in africa?

20 dollars aint s**t to you But thats how much they are.

Of couse they gonna use it to kill a little daIs.

girls, diamonds Helpin ya?

Dont you like my bandana. My stains hang low On my shirts like ay yai ay.

Monkey brains and banana. Ill hit you with my antana. I put soap in my eye

Make it red so I look raa. Ra ra So I woke up with my holy quran and found out I like cadillac.

So we shooting till the song is up. Little boys are acting up.

Baby mothers are going crazy And the leaders all round cracking up. We goat rich we fry.

Price of living in a shantytown jus seem to be high.

We still look flyWe still like t.i. Dancing as we shooting up And lootin jus to get by.>

This song is about how you can buy things, like guns, rather than something like a cell phone or food. And its also how that effects people.

This next picture show M.I.A. with school children. This shows she is Involved with the community.

qoutes:

"DONT WATCH ME WATCH URSELF"
She wants others to be aware.

"WITH SO MANY ONE SIDED VIEWS IN THIS WORLD IT IS ONLY FAIR WE STAY EDUCATED AND EXPOSE OURSELVES TO ALL OPINIONS"
She is not bais.

"YOU TO ALL THESE EVIL PEOPLE TWISTING THE TRUTH. YOU DONT SPEAK FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I CAN SPEAK FOR MY SELF."
She will express her own opinions. Also too many people are assuming before they have all the facts.

"EVERYTHING IN ME WAS KILLED BUT MY ART IS NOT DEAD! "
M.I.A. may be down but she will still live on.

boyz

pull up the people

This is a school M.I.A. is currently building. This proves that she cares about the world and wants to help. Especially those who need it most.
Conclusion.

You’d think heroes as strong men in capes or a person ho saves lives. But there are many kinds of heroes, they may not save lives, but they save us in many other ways. M.I.A. shows people to speak up in what you believe in and stay true to yourself. In my findings, she has shown she is not afraid to tell others what she feels, and expresses this in her songs and clothes, She inspirers many to do the same. She talks about true, meaningful stuff, that is close to her heart and what she passions. She helps give the voice to others that can not speak. That is what a true hero does. She has demonstrated helping others in need, like the school she is building. Also, I found that she is not like most singers these days. Most rap artist talk about female body parts and how much money they have. Not M.I.A., as know her lyrics tell about personal struggles and views on world. The lyrics are also well written like poetry. One last thing,

hey I THINK YOU SHOULD READ THIS ONE especially the guys. for future Reference im not blaming it on you

FYI: for those of you who have been living in a cave or have been in a coma, dove is company that’s sells beauty products.

In the dove article, they were talking about how much pressure there is to look great witch is almost impossible to achieve. How we should judge on the person on the inside not outer. Cheesy I know but they make a good point. Now they are making campaign ads to help. And if they are doing it just because they want more people to buy there products, I don’t care, it’s still a great thing.Being beautiful is a simple way to feel better about ourselves. Being beautiful is an easy way to get gratification from someone else, a way to be accepted by society. It uses little of your mind and can be fun, a way to express yourself too. But sometimes we take it too far, because of the way society portrays how women should be. If you walk down a street, count how many billboards or sings that have beautiful women on it, selling underwear or make up and such. It’s an obvious view on what our society thinks. Sometimes a women is worth more is they are beautiful. The outlook of beautiful will be forever changing, ever look at history books and go wow there ugly? So thus it means nothing. I love what dove is doing and it will make almost all us feel a lot better about ourselves, so we can live life!

I’m not saying wear dirty clothes or don’t put on deodorant, I’m just saying don’t get crazy with the looks. And if you’re a person who judges others on the way they look, well then, I don’t think you will ever come to real happiness in your life. OF course everyone thinks about how others look just remind your self that not who they are or all they can be. I need to watch myself, and I think everyone else should too! Just a thought.

funny numbers

Do you think Obama will win? The polls are in favor of Obama. So does that mean he will be elected? Guess again. In the New York Times, an article stated that some people who claim they don’t care about the skin color of a candidate, really do, because when in the privacy of a voting booth, they will vote against the candidate because of his or her race. This is called the Tom Bradley Effect. That’s why you can’t really relay on polls. People may often state falsely their true intentions about how they feel about a candidate, especially when it comes to race and politics. Sadly, many don’t think there is chance that Obama will win because of the Bradley Effect. He is only 6 points ahead of McCain, and (I hope) Obama could win if people don’t follow the Bradley Effect. But if Obama is only 6 point ahead, maybe there is only 6% of people who will really not vote for him. I think most people are over the race issue and can be adult about it. But because polls are so tired, Obama may not win. This Bradley Effect has been proven with other elections. One of them was Tom Bradley, himself, which who it was named for. Which leaves many to wonder if there will be an Obama effect?

This goes to show that you don’t trust people on what they say. What really matters is when you are alone with them to find out how they really believe to know what they will do.

Connecticut Ruling Overturns Ban on Same-Sex Marriage

this was in the new york times, by sharon otterman.
Today is a great day in Connecticut because the Connecticut Supreme Court will now allow same sex marriage along with new Hampshire and California. The 8 plaintiffs argued that it was unfair and unjust to treat gay and lesbians different just because they are. They are human beings who need to be treated as equals. I think this too. Court found that “the state had failed to provide sufficient justification for excluding same-sex couples from the institution of marriage.” Homosexuals will have better lives knowing now that they can share the rest of there lives with there one and only love. People are scared and hate gays. people think its is wrong and I don’t know why. There just people and they want to live there lives like everyone eles. This makes Connecticut a much better state they are not prejudice and it’s a nicer place over all.

<3 comparing characters loyd and codi <3

Codi is Loyd are very much the same. To start with, they are both actively looking for were they can belong. Like on page 122 Loyd says he’d die for the land, witch in his words mean he would die for a place for him to call home. And we know Codi wants a place too. The whole point of the book is about her finding herself. She says “I want a place to want me to want them.” Secondly, they both care for Grace, the only differences is Codi isn’t so bluntly about it. For example, Codi is working hard to save the river of Grace, and without that, Grace goes too. She is making peacock piƱatas and is in the club. Loyd is always talking and talking about his people who lived Grace. He talks about the Pueblos and there history, rituals, and random facts. I’m sure he would be very sad to see grace go. Also, Codi and Loyd both have the same sense of humor, teasing and being sarcastic mostly. Like Loyd talking about the prehistoric condos. And because the building was so small Codi jokes“they didn’t eat there wonder bread.” Another thing, both of them have had lose, for Codi it was her mother, and for Loyd it was his twin brother. They both talk about this together on page 191. Lastly, they have conceived a child together; she explains all of this in detail on chapter 6, the Miracle.

Differences between Codi and Loyd also have many. For instance Loyd has family and Codi does not. She even admits this saying “I’ve always thought Loyd as an orphan like me, but he has always been surrounded by family.” Another difference is Codi likes animals unlike Loyd. It’s a known fact that Loyd cockfights, and will stop, but not for the animals sake, but because of his mother and Codi. Codi on the other hand is sympathetic towards animals. She once saved coyote pups from death in chapter The Flood. She also cries for the chickens in cockfighting and tells Loyd to stop.

Upton Sinclair, Now Playing on YouTube, artical, by KIM SEVERSON

An animal activist went undercover at slaughter houses to see if anything was illegal or being appropriate with the killings. This articles view was on the activist’s side, and so am I. I feel that they should take away as much pain as possible when being killed, like if they had a no abuse prior to killings. Many people think that animals have no feelings and are on this earth to serve human beings. I wonder if those people were born a cow, I think there views would be much different. Works who do this and the meat companies are far too cruel to the animals. This is proven by the article; the investigator caught on tape much violence. There were things like flipping sick cows with forklifts, poking them with electricity wires and dragging them with chains. They also gave drugs to make them grow faster, witch makes them very sick, and to save money, cram them into little cages with a lot more cows, they can’t even move. I think animals are just profits to them, and to save money often means the animals must suffer. I liked this piece because they stood up for animals.
