Global issue

Globally, over Twenty-six-thousand and five-hundred children died around the world just today. That means that every three seconds a child dies, eighteen every minute, and ten million each year. This does not include children who couldn’t have been saved. So these deaths were preventable. The Twenty-six-thousand and five-hundred children that die everyday die from poverty, hunger, and curable diseases or illness. In America, this would not be OK, but if it is a poor country, that is? Do we just expect that and say ‘oh well’? We know what is happening, but we care more about celebrity gossip and such. The media fails to recognize this tragedy, when is the last time you have seen a headline on provable death of children; not many. Even though we are going though hard times ourselves, we are a powerful country. And as a powerful country, I think it is our duty to help other developing countries. But again and again we hand a broken promise. Also, it’s not even including the adults that are dying, but the children who are dying needlessly. We need to do something and turn away no longer.
